For most buyers the Anycubic Kobra X is the better pick. It costs $299.99 against $329 for the Elegoo Centauri 2 Combo, has a slightly bigger 260 mm build cube, and its listing shows a camera that the Centauri 2 lacks.
Choose the Centauri 2 Combo if you want a 350°C nozzle and a CoreXY printer from Elegoo. Prices come from the Amazon listings checked on October 29, 2026.
We have not tested either printer, so this comparison combines their listed specs, independent reviews and what owners told our community.

Which Printer Is Better Value in 2026?
The Kobra X, by a small margin. It is $29.01 cheaper today, and it adds a camera and four more millimeters of build volume per side.
The Centauri 2 Combo’s price moved too. Our own check on October 27 showed $296.10, and the listing showed $329 on October 29.
That swing is normal on Amazon before Black Friday, so check the live price before you decide.
Amazon’s buyer ratings favor the Kobra X, 4.3/5 against 4.1/5. The Centauri 2 rating comes from far more buyers, 3,719 against 335, so it is the steadier number.
Ratings measure the whole buying experience, including shipping and support. They are not a test of print quality.

Which One Handles Multicolor Better?
We cannot call a winner on print quality, because neither has been through a full independent comparison with the other. Here is what we do know.
All3DP found that the Kobra X’s default flush values are too low and cause color bleed. Raising them fixes the bleed but cuts into the purge savings Anycubic advertises.
In one All3DP test the Kobra X finished 1 hour 20 minutes faster than the Elegoo Centauri Carbon 2 Combo, with less than half the flushed waste. That test used the enclosed Carbon 2, not the Centauri 2, so do not read it as a Centauri 2 result.
We found no independent waste or timing test for the Centauri 2 Combo. Expect it to use the same CANVAS system as the Carbon 2, which TechRadar said wastes noticeable purge filament.
What Do Owners Say?
We asked owners in r/3DPrinterComparison what they paid and whether they regret it. None of the reports we gathered came from a Kobra X or Centauri 2 owner, so we have no first-hand data on these two.
A few reports on the enclosed Centauri Carbon 2 are still relevant, because the Centauri 2 uses the same CANVAS system per Notebookcheck.
- Quality control: One Centauri Carbon 2 Combo buyer in Canada said three units in a row arrived faulty and a refund took more than three months.
- Firmware: Another owner said the Carbon 2 works well, but its camera failed after a firmware update and the replacement part was coming from China.
- CANVAS limits: A Carbon 2 owner reported caveats with soft and abrasive filaments.
- Anycubic support: One shopper worried about Anycubic’s Kobra X support after the brand moves on to new models. That matches All3DP’s spare-parts concern.
These are single experiences, and they describe a different printer for the most part. If you own either of these printers, our price thread asks owners what they paid and whether they would buy again.
Which Is Easier for a First-Time Buyer?
The Kobra X, on paper. It has a camera for watching prints, a quiet 45 dB figure on its listing and Anycubic’s slicer.
All3DP lists an unresponsive touchscreen, awkward RFID setup, fiddly nozzle swaps and a slicer with a reputation for crashes.
The Centauri 2 Combo has Elegoo’s Nexprint Model Hub and app remote control, per its listing. It has no camera, so you cannot check a print from your phone.

Can Either Printer Handle PETG, TPU or ABS?
Both are open frame, so they suit PLA, PETG and TPU. Notebookcheck says harder filaments such as ABS, ASA and PA-CF are not recommended on the Centauri 2.
The Kobra X has a hardened steel nozzle, which suits abrasive filaments better than a standard brass one.
Before you plan on TPU through the four-color changer, check each maker’s supported-filament list. Soft filament often works best from an external spool on multi-spool systems.
Which One Should You Buy?
- Buy the Kobra X if you want the lowest price, a camera and a 260 mm bed, and you are happy to raise the flush values to stop color bleed.
- Buy the Centauri 2 Combo if you want a 350°C nozzle on a CoreXY and the price drops back toward $300.
- Look elsewhere if you want an enclosure for ABS and ASA. Both of these are open frame.

Centauri 2 Combo vs Kobra X FAQ
Is the Elegoo Centauri 2 Combo or Anycubic Kobra X better?
For most buyers it is the Kobra X. It costs $299.99 against $329, has a 260 mm cube against 256 mm, and its listing shows a camera. The Centauri 2 Combo is the pick if you want a 350°C nozzle.
Is the Centauri 2 the same as the Centauri Carbon 2?
No. The Centauri 2 is a cheaper open-frame printer without the enclosure, camera or filtration. The Carbon 2 is enclosed and costs more.
Does the Elegoo Centauri 2 Combo have a camera?
No. Notebookcheck reports that it has no camera and no filtration. The Kobra X listing shows an AI camera.
Do these printers waste a lot of filament when changing colors?
Multicolor printing always wastes some filament at each change. All3DP found the Kobra X needs higher flush values than its defaults, and we found no independent waste test for the Centauri 2 Combo.
Can the Kobra X or Centauri 2 print ABS?
Not reliably. Both are open frame, and Notebookcheck says ABS, ASA and PA-CF are not recommended on the Centauri 2. An enclosed printer is the better choice for those materials.
Should I wait for Black Friday to buy?
Prices may fall, but Amazon has not announced its dates and no drop is guaranteed. The Centauri 2 Combo price changed from $296.10 to $329 in two days, so check the live price.
Final Verdict: Centauri 2 Combo or Kobra X?
Pick the Kobra X unless the 350°C nozzle matters to you. It is cheaper, has a camera and a larger bed, and has the better independent review record, though you should plan to tune its flush values.
